Veterans Day is Wednesday, and we wanted to use the week to talk about a brand on our shelf that’s run by people who served. Veterans Choice Creations, or VCC, started as a small hemp shop upstate and became one of the first licensed cannabis businesses in New York.
We carry a good chunk of their lineup at our Forest Ave shop, so we’ll cover what’s on the shelf too.
Veterans Choice Creations at a glance
Veterans Choice Creations is a New York cannabis brand from Army veteran Jason Ambrosino and Sonja Ambrosino, based upstate in Fulton County.
You’ll usually see the name shortened to VCC on the package. The brand makes gummies, pre-rolls, cannabis oil, tinctures and a balm, all made by a New York company.
What makes VCC stand out on our shelf is who runs it. This is a veteran-owned business, and New York State has certified it as one.
From a Broadalbin hemp shop to one of New York’s first cannabis licenses
The Ambrosinos ran Veterans Hemp Market in Broadalbin, then got one of New York’s first 15 adult-use cannabis licenses in 2022.
Before adult-use cannabis was legal in New York, Jason and Sonja Ambrosino ran Veterans Hemp Market in Broadalbin, a small town in Fulton County. They sold hemp and CBD products for years.
When New York started handing out its first adult-use licenses in 2022, they were in the very first group. WNYT reported that the business was one of the first 15 in the state to get one. That’s a short list, and a hemp shop from a small upstate town made it.

A state-certified veteran-owned business
Veterans Holdings, the company behind VCC, is certified by New York State as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business. It also hires fellow veterans.
VCC’s veteran-owned status is official. In October 2023, New York’s Office of General Services listed Veterans Holdings of Broadalbin among the companies newly certified as Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses.
The brand has kept growing since. In an April 2026 story, WNYT reported that VCC products are sold in more than 200 dispensaries across New York, and that Jason Ambrosino, a Gloversville native, employs several fellow veterans.
That’s the kind of story we like having on our shelf, a New York company built by people who served.
The VCC lineup on our menu
At NugHub you’ll find VCC Liberty Squares gummies, Lil’ Buddies pre-roll 10-packs and RSO/FECO oil, plus a few tinctures and a balm.
Here’s what we’re carrying from VCC right now. Flavor and smell notes come from each product page.
| Product | What it is | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Liberty Squares, Watermelon Chili | Gummies, 10 per pack | Sweet watermelon first, then a chili lime kick |
| Liberty Squares, Mango Strawberry | Gummies, 10 per pack | Ripe mango up front, strawberry at the end |
| Liberty Squares, Wild Berry | Gummies, 10 per pack | Blueberry and cherry, sweet and a little tart |
| Lil’ Buddies, Ghost Runtz | Ten 0.5g pre-rolls | Candy-like sweetness with bright citrus |
| RSO/FECO | Cannabis oil in a 1g applicator | Earthy and herbal, with a slightly bitter finish |
| Tinctures and balm | Serenity, High Octane and Fuzzy Slippers tinctures, plus Warrior Balm | Ask our team or check each product page |
If you only try one, make it the Liberty Squares Watermelon Chili. It’s a sweet watermelon gummy with a slow chili lime finish, and it’s a fun change from the usual fruit flavors. All three Liberty Squares flavors are vegan and made without gelatin.
Prefer flower? The Lil’ Buddies Ghost Runtz pack gives you ten small pre-rolls, which makes it easy to share or save a few for later.

What RSO/FECO means on a VCC label
RSO and FECO are names for a cannabis oil made from the whole plant. VCC puts it in its Liberty Squares gummies and also sells it on its own.
You’ll see RSO/FECO on a few VCC labels. FECO stands for full extract cannabis oil, and RSO is another common name for the same style of oil. Either way, it’s an oil made from the whole cannabis plant.
Many gummies are made with distillate, a more refined oil. VCC makes Liberty Squares with RSO/FECO instead, and it sells the oil by itself in a 1g applicator too. Want to know how it fits with the other oils and extracts on our menu? Our concentrates guide covers the basics.
